What Types of Cloud Hosting Exist?

There are five types of cloud hosting available in the market place, none of them are available as products in their own right, it is instead the manner in which the networks are constructed that decides their type.

The three most commonly used are public, private and community cloud networks. Public is the most commonly found on the internet because it is a commercial and globally accessible cloud. Private and community operate in a similar manner of being available only to those who are allowed. Community could make it a shared cloud between multiple companies where as private is typically exclusive to a solitary company.

A hybrid cloud involves aspects of both public and private access. This is where certain parts of the network are used for private processes alongside the public processes that the entire cloud deals with.

Finally, there are combined clouds which involve integration between communities, private and public clouds as the clouds gradually develop until they are all merged into one public or community cloud.
